Frequently Asked Questions

A WDO inspection is a thorough examination of a property to identify existing termite activity or conditions that may lead to infestations. It’s crucial as termites can cause significant structural damage to homes, and early detection helps prevent extensive damage.

It’s generally recommended to have a WDO inspection annually, especially in areas prone to termite activity or if there’s a history of termite issues. Additionally, inspections should occur before buying or selling a property.

Inspectors typically examine various areas including basements, crawl spaces, attics, wooden structures, foundations, and areas where wood contacts soil. They look for signs of termites like mud tubes, damaged wood, or discarded wings.

Typically, WDO inspections for prevention or routine checks are not covered by homeowners’ insurance. However, if there is evidence of damage caused by a covered peril (e.g., a fallen tree damaging the home and leading to a termite infestation), the resulting repairs might be covered. A V.A loan for any veteran’s or military personnel may require a WDO inspection.
